The Perth Mint is proud to announce the highly anticipated 2012 Discover Australia silver proof coin series.
With five new animal designs for 2012 the coins consist of: the Green and Gold Bell Frog, the Red Kangaroo, the Kookaburra, the Goanna and the Whale Shark.

The Green and Gold Bell Frog

Which is an emerald to olive green coloured amphibian which often displays brown and gold markings. Although these frogs prefer to live close to water or in wetlands, they are often found in urban areas. Known to be active during the day, the Green and Gold Bell Frog enjoys basking in the sunshine.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1 oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 7,500 of these 1oz silver proof coins.

Design

The coin's reverse depicts a Green and Gold Bell Frog resting on a branch against a coloured background of the Three Sisters rock formations found in the Blue Mountains. The inscriptions
DISCOVER AUSTRALIA and GREEN & GOLD BELL FROG, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the 2012 year-date are also included in the design.

Each coin's obverse also bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
