Theme Background:

This very cute baby dragon coin celebrates the Year of the Dragon. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Year of the Dragon include 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be confident, enterprising, independent, self-assured, brave and passionate. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Government of Tuvalu.

Design:

The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of a baby dragon with a sackful of gifts. The Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the year-date are also included in the design.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
