Theme Background:

This very cute baby dragon coin celebrates the Year of the Dragon. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar Dragon include 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be confident, enterprising, independent, self-assured, brave and passionate.

The Perth Mint and Australia Post are delighted to present this cute baby dragon coin in card as the perfect gift for babies born in 2012 and collectors alike. This coin is issued as legal tender under the Government of Tuvalu, with a limited mintage of only 10,000.

Design

The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of a baby dragon. The Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also included in the design.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
