Theme Background:

The Games of the XXX Olympiad will be held in London, England from 27 July to 12 August 2012. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and 1948.

The stamp-coin set features the 2012 Australia Post The Road to London 60c commemorative stamp, designed by Jonathan Chong. In addition, the set includes an extremely limited stamp-shaped coin, struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality by The Perth Mint, featuring a coloured photograph of the stamp.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the 60c coin features the sights of London, Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral and the London Eye, in silhouette, this dazzling duo is a must for all collectors.


The coin’s reverse design depicts the official Olympic rings and the Australian flag providing a backdrop to a colourful London bus, with the destination 2012 emblazoned on the bus’s route indicator.

The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and 2012 year-date.
