Theme Background:

The Perth Mint has struck a commemorative $1 coin for inclusion in Australia Post’s 2011 ‘Year of the Rabbit’ postal numismatic cover.  A popular gift or collectable for people born in:  1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999 and 2011.  Those born under the influence of this symbol are regarded as intelligent, articulate, compassionate and loyal.

Affixed to the envelope are $1.80 and 60c stamps from Australia Post’s Christmas Island Lunar New Year Series.  Both stamps, which bear designs based on the Chinese character for ‘rabbit’, are postmarked 11 January 2011, the day this stamp and coin cover is released.
