The Perth Mint and Australia Post are celebrating 100 years of Duntroon, the Royal Military College of Australia. The college was founded in 1911 at Duntroon, located in the Australian Capital Territory, and is situated on picturesque grounds at the foot of Mount Pleasant.
Over the years, Duntroon has established a rich history. Graduates have led Australian soldiers in every major military campaign in which Australia has been engaged. Recognised as one of the world's leading military colleges, it proudly upholds a famous tradition of training and developing some of the country's most accomplished leaders.
Design
Struck by The Perth Mint in aluminium bronze, the coin's reverse depicts the official Royal Military College badge incorporating the motto DOCTRINA VIM PROMOVET (learninig promotes strength).
Issued as Australian legal tender under the Currency Act 1965, the coin's obverse portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2011 year-date.
Official Commemorative Stamps
Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post stamp. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and includes Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity and official number.
