Theme Background:

The Australian Florin was first minted in 1910.  This superb collection of 99.9% pure silver proof commemoratives harkens back to the golden days of Australian society with each coin reflecting a landmark in the development of the nation’s history.
 
This set will be released as a four coin subscription only with one coin being issued each month between November 2010 and February 2011.

The original historical reverse designs have been recreated and include:

  • The 1927 Australian florin commemorating the opening of the original Parliament House, designed by George Kruger Gray. Released November 2010.
  • The 1934-5 Australian florin commemorating the Centenary of Victoria and the establishment of the City of Melbourne, designed by George Kruger Gray. Released December 2010.
  • The 1951 Australian florin commemorating 50 years of the Commonwealth of Australia, designed by Leslie Bowles. Released January 2011.
  • The 1954 Australian florin commemorating the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia, designed by Leslie Bowles.Released February 2011.
