Theme Background:

Sugar gliders are tiny tree-dwelling Australian marsupials that can glide through the air for up to 100 metres. At night, they come out to feed on insects and the sugary sap of eucalyptus and acacia.

The second Australian Bush Babies coin depicts Australian artist Elise Martinson’s delightful impression of an infant sugar glider. Portrayed in colour, the beautiful animal is perched on a frosted interpretation of native flowers. The design includes the sugar glider’s insect ‘friend’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
